Traditional Kitchens

When it comes to kitchens, I prefer white cupboards (surprisingly enough), wooden work tops, to add warmth mixed with high spec appliances. I look and style that I would define as classic-contemporary. However, having said that, I would be open to install almost any of the kitchens in the Plain English kitchen range (I even have the same glas jar shown on the home page, but use it as a large vase).

Swedish Design

We are flying to Stockholm tomorrow for a proper Swedish celebration of the return of the light and warmer season to come (aka Valborg). Inspired by this trip, below is the design of Swedish milk tetra-paks by Arla.

More Eames

Voted Terrace Conrand favorite chair, this classic design it is also high up on my top design list. Why? Because they are comfy, stylish and can be used anywhere in your home.

Home at the Day's

I am a big fan of Day Homes designs, so when I saw there house features in Living Etc just before Christmas last year it felt extra special. Featured is the design couple Marianne Brandi and Keld Mikkelsens, of Day Birger et Mikkelsen, own flat in Copenhagen. It is filled with Day way design details, such as the candle sticks on the mantelpiece... I want... Unfortunately, DAY has closed their store on Sloane Ave. down and the new store on Marybone Hight Street doesn't carry anything from the Home collection. But I use travel to Stockholm as an opportunity to shop instead.

A White Home in London

Another white home, this time a classic UK terraced house. This London home has been transformed with a new extension and painted white. The 1960s hanging chair 'the Bubble' add some flair. Pictures from Shootfactory. The home is slightly too modern for my taste but I love the lamps in the kitchen and the extension.

New England Home

Until I have a Hamptons beack house of any own and can show you some pictures from projects... you will have to make due with some very inspirational pictures from a typical New England Home. The pictures are borrowed from the publication New England Home. I really like the large fireplace, the bunk beds in the guest room and the ralph Lauren like stairs.

R.O.O.M is back!

I am very excited, the Stockholm based R.O.O.M design/ furniture shop is back, re-opens today in PUB after a restructure/ chapter 11. As I am going to Stockholm next week this is one of the definitive stops on the shopping round.  I have seen some sneak preview pictures from various sites and it looks good and just as old R.O.O.M. Very much looking forward to see it in real life!

the 'Ant' Chair

The Ant (Myran) chair is a Scandinavian Design classic, designed by Arne Jacobsen and produced by Fritz Hansen. The chair has been in production since 1952, but as it back then only had three legs it never became very popular.  If you want to buy your own and are in London, go to Skandium.

Nice (and white) looking IKEA

IKEA, IKEA, IKEA. These blond IKEA favorites are newish IKEA designs;  the arm chair 'Lillberg' is quite small and therefore works well in  a bedroom as well as a smaller living room (and it is supricingly comfortable!). The pendant lamp is called 'PS Maskros' and the bedside lamp 'Barometer'

Living with Books

I have a lot of books and  don't always want to give my books away after reading them, but am struggling to make books part of a stylish living. Some inspiration on this issue from the Danish magazine RUM.
