Summer is Here!

Summer time has finally arrived, been busy gardening, going to the Chelsea garden show for inspiration and doing a re-make of the living room. Finally got to use the great cushions I got at Slettvoll last year! It all looks great and I can sit back and plan the next projects; a loft conversion and two bathrooms!

Seaside Living

A seaside living living room is what I'm trying to achieve in our living room for the summer look by taking one part Pottery Barn, one part Modern Country, blue cushions from Slettvoll and our new sisal rug. Hopefully it will do the trick! Rug arrives in a a week or so, can't wait!

Nice White Bedroom

Lovely nice white bedroom! I'm working on mine at the moment as it is just not as cozy as I would want it to be. Think I will steel the addition of the unframed J-boat pictures from this one and possibly possibly swap my Malm drawers for white once (or repaint them...)

Off to New England!

Lucky me is flying off to New England and Boston this morning. Lobster rolls, inspirational exteriors and Pottery Barn here I come!

Black & White

I see it in more and more Nordic blogs, the black and white themes, with a few selected natural colors. I like it very much, but would you go the whole way and get a black kitchen or kitchen island like the below? I think it looks very classic!

New Bathroom Inspiration

As you probably already know, a new bathroom is the next (major) project in the house. I want a classic, yet modern bathroom that works well with the Victorian architecture but without being too old fashioned. The look I want is basically a mixture of the below; wooden panels, octagon white floor tiles, metro styled tiles, white furniture,freestanding bath,big shower heads, chrome fittings and to top it all up white New England shutters covering the window! If successful I think (I hope) it will be a New England styled modern bathroom and a great addition to the house!

New England Styled Baths

Planning the new bathroom and I'm playing with the idea of having wooden panels instead of tiles in the bathroom, not sure I will go down that route yet but I would want the finished result to look something similar to this. Shower will be metro styled tiles, shower head traditional as well as furniture.

White New England Charm II

Following on the post on the 6th with some more pictures of this lovely home (for sale if you are interested in moving to Stockholm!). Lovely areas for socializing and dressed in crispy white and blue for summer. I think it would be very, very difficult to leave such a beautiful home behind...

Country Living Rooms

It's time for a late-spring/ summer living room make-over! I think that country and a bit more relaxed style works better in the summer. Blue and natural is a classic favorite that works year after year. This year I'm mixing Slettvoll with IKEA with the intention to mimic something like this (but with my blue cushions!)

White New England Charm

The owner of what used to be one of my favorite shops and (lunch time past times) is selling her wonderful home. Inspiration for the interior is clearly New England but with a Scandinavian touch to it, absolutely lovely! First out the kitchen that mixes white, warmer woods, modern country (stove and handles) and industrial (pendant lights and tolix stools) with a stunning result!

Inspired Interiors

I found American Victoria Hagen's interior designs book last year in a Restoration Hardware shop and was immediately drawn to the amazing properties she has on display in it. I think the below was the one picture that made me buy the book and dream that I one day would have a waterside home just like it! I like her simple understated classic style, it looks very StockholmVitt, but without properties as amazing as these, the result would never be as astonishing! Lots to love in these pictures: the sky lights above the doors and the big hallway with wide stairs, kitchen island and wood panels on walls!

Light Light Light

I love this time a year when the evenings are getting lighter and lighter. An ex-pat Swede I don't cover my windows, let the light flow as freely as possible and love big windows with the best ever, if your lucky, pictures frame of your view!

White Country Kitchen

Lovely, Lovely, Lovely kitchen! Modern yet country feel to this white kitchen. Love the look of using Tolix chairs around the white table too, one of the most comfy chairs around and perfect for long lunches!  Also like the pendant lights by the window. Not sure where the pictures are from.
