Spring is in the Air!

For real, spring is here! The last couple of days I have had the patio doors open when at home and its only a tiny bit cold. One of my favorite favorite spring flowers, apart from tulips are ranuculus pink or white but white are the top choice. I wonder if I can plant some in the garden for next year...

Happy Leap Day 2012!

Cozy by Alvhem

The Swedish west coast base estate agent Alvhem has done it gain, this cozy little flat is for sale by them and as always they take the a good potential flat and make it super cozy for a quick sell! London estate agents watch and learn!  Features such as the double doors and the very nice fireplace is something that you can't create just for selling though.

Nothing gives a house a better charm factor them old man-made windows that is not all even as modern windows are, like the one below. Love this tiny little balcony door too with the small shelves on each side, character in a nutshell!

Design Classic Revival

You have probably seen it elsewhere too, Fritz Hansen's design classic is now being made in nine different type of woods!   I like the top 'Myran' on the picture above which I assume is walnut? The classic shape and the wood is a very appealing combination and I like them better then the older colored versions.

Bring on Spring!

I wouldn't mind rushing through January and February, had it with the gray and cold and want the garden to start blooming! Easy way to get the spring going inside is spring bulbs, buy some pretty white narcissus's or Lily of the Valley and put in a coffee cup you like or place it it a small vase or pot. Instant effect, cheap and beautiful!

Dreaming of a Summer Cottage...

... something like this, on the water not too big but with potential to make into our perfect little summer retreat. This is a Swedish summer home inspired by New England summer living, but in a less grand way. I love the feel of this home, so inviting and relaxing with just the right light and few splashes of summery colors.

Scandinavian Industrial Shabby Chic

Is how I would describe the Danish company Nordal. They have amazing table of reclaimed wood, fantastic lanterns and loads of pretty interior accessories. Another amazing Danish company to keep your eyes on!

Cozy White

White living is never boring (beige can be but not white), dress it up with fluffy cushions and wood and you'll create a cozy living space. I love all of the white themes below and would describe them as white country, white shabby chic (think French country) and white classic.

East Hampton Colonial Inn

GANT's spring 2012 collection is visiting an East Hampton Inn to gt that special New England feel. Time to book holiday maybe... Guess only surprise in the new collection is that there is no stars and stripes in site and the colors are more muted blues then navy.  I like the knitted cushions in pale blue and can't wait until it is available in stores!

Industrial, Shabby & Romantic

Just had to share these stunning pictures from Skona Hem. The mix between rustic, industrial and romantic is absolutely amazing. As always love the coffee table on caster wheals, the pink flowers with the wood background and the glass vases to add interest. Love it!

New at IKEA

IKEA must have hired quite a few talented designers lately as they are coming out with new and not so IKEA like styles. One example is the fabric of the Emmie bed linen and cushions. Very French and summery! Pictures are press pictures from IKEA.

Happy Valentines!

If you are struggling with what to give your loved one as a token of affection on Valentines may I suggest a lovely Jo Malone candle. We have  quite a few at home (completed with one of the big luxury once which I got for Christmas!) and the smell absolutely amazing! Yes they are a bit on the pricy side but they make up for it by lasting longer and they come with a very pretty gift wrap. My two favorites candles are the Pomegranate Noir and the Lime Basil & Mandarin mixed together!  Tip: if you want them to last for even longer place them in the fridge for about 8 hours to get the wax chilled and it will burn slower.

Apartment Under the Eaves

Converting attics to beautiful apartments is an art and it requires a skillful architect to make the most of the space. Whomever created the below has really done well. High ceilings. lots of natural light and beautiful windows that looks like they have always been there not new additions.

New Neutral

There has definitely been a shift in on the higher end of apartments on the  home styling side. Instead of all white and a few colored cushions more and more homes for sale are shown as they where taken from a Slettvoll catalog, i.e. beige, dark wood, white sofas and magnolias, very classic and easy to fall in love with!

Rustic White Country

Found this lovely White Northern Californian home in Country Life. All toned down and white from the inside out. I also spot a cushion from what it looks like by Nord on the Pottery barn sofas in the living room.  Rustic, white and calming place to call home.

Lovely Asian Danish Mix

This very lovely home (found on Swedish site Hemnet.se) mixed the soft Scandinavian with a darker Asian theme. Looking at the accessories it looks like the owner is, just like me, a big fan of both Day.dk and Tine K. The bedroom especially, as well as living room has perfected the feel of these two interior design companies (maybe a Tine K home styling before selling?!). I love the mixture of powdery pastels, white and black, just lovely!
Also note the wall paper on the left
