(Another) Californian Home Envy

There seem to be an abundance of beautiful homes in California, more so then anywhere else. I wonder why that is...is Californians just more interested in having beautiful looking houses, is it just  the climate that makes anyone ant to create a beautiful home to enjoy inside out? Or is it just Country Living that are extraordinary talented in finding these gems?  This sunny range is a home very much to my own taste, the bottle collection, the bus-blind, the sisal rug, the pendant lights in the kitchen, the white walls you name it.
