Pottery Barn Craving...
Monday again... I have a Potttery Barn craving today and wish I could pop in for a browse and some shopping at lunch time... as that is not the case using the next best option their website to download a few decoration ideas. I really like the letter picture on the last picture below, might try to do something similar for our strudy.

Love at First Sight
More pictures from New England Home magazine, this time a cottage on Nantucket that a Mid-Western couple fell in love with. I love the bathroom and as a former resident of the Mid-West can understand why you would opt Nantucket beaches over lakes.

Newport Bathroom
Pottery Barn's Newport furniture collection includes a full set of New England looking bathroom fixings. I am quite thorn between the classic Scandinavian, fully tiled wet room type bathrooms and the New England Style wood panelled, wooden floor stronger colors. As you can see on the pictures below, the Newport furniture in white with the black top looks very nice both with tiles in blue and beige or with the darker blue paint. I think this collection sold the Newport style for the next renovation... and I might even go for the wood panel.

Cape Cod Summer Retreat
This beautiful Cape Cod dream summer home belongs to designer Meredith Hutchison and is a rebuilt replica of the family’s 1950s summer retreat. When she and her siblings assumed ownership of the house it was extended to facilitate more then one family at once and updated with modern comfort, with the charm still intact. The house has the typical clad facade, nautical themed accessories such as oars and white and blue summery interior. Read the full story in Veranda.

Easygoing Elegance
This summer home in New England featured in New England Homes Magazine is located on Nantucket and looks exactly like a summer house I would want to spend long weekends at. Love the lighthouse style addition on the top of the house where this couple has a cozy reading/ living room and the high ceilings in the dining area.

Hamptons Designer Showhouses
Traditional homes, the US not the UK magazine have some great inspirational pictures of costal homes in New England. (My colleagues keep telling me that Hamptons as located on Long Island is in fact not to be referred to as New England but hey...) Below a selection of inspirational pictures of the designer own homes. To see all home click here

Dream house
Skona hem featured this Danish home in their July issue. The home is new built and designed with a mix of Scandinavian and international country from the end of the last century. A mix of white washed floor boards, New England looking kitchen (with the number one favorite industrial looking Titan lamps and on the buy list for the new home) and American country. I think the covered porch has been inspired by a grand Southern Villa. The floor in hallway is the Swedish 'Victorian' style. Swedish are also the red horses lined up on the window sill.

Monochrome white
The open plan monochrome white/ black living room below has been created by the Finnish interior designer Susanna Vento. Our fireplace surrount is painted a similar color from Flamant, but spotted a similar painted accent wall as Conrand last weeken painted in the Farrow & Ball paint Tanner's Brown No. 255. The brownish-black gives a dramatic backdrop to all the white and adds an interesting aspect.

New bathroom III
Still haven't decided on my new bathroom... but have picked up a few New England inspired ideas at the Remodeling Centre. I especially like the wood panels, the white and the oversized shower.

Fall Light in the Garden
Fall is approaching, it is getting colder just yet.. but the nights are getting darker and the days shorter. As it is still warm outside, late summer early fall is the perfect time for lightening the lanterns on the veranda.

A White Family Home
The below home is painted in 44 different shades of white and despite this, belongs to a family with kids. There are always washing machines! The home located in the Dutch city of Haag was featured in Skona Hem a while back. The living room looks very homely and warm with a mix of different textures and shades of white. The bathroom floor as well as the worktops in the kitchen are made of concrete that also mixes well with the white adds a contemporary twist.
